Charisma

Today, Stephen shared this link with me: http://www.newsweek.com/id/105580

It is about Heath Ledger, and his charismatic way about life. It is a very moving read, Ledger fan or not. I think we, me included, could learn a lot from Heath Ledger.

Quote:

One time he and another actor were shooting a complex scene. We had two days to shoot it, and at the end of the first day, they'd really found something and Heath was worried that he might not have it if we stopped. He wanted to carry on and finish. It's tough to ask the crew to work late when we all know there's plenty of time to finish the next day. But everyone seemed to understand that Heath had something special and that we had to capture it before it disappeared. Months later, I learned that as Heath left the set that night, he quietly thanked each crew member for working late. Quietly. Not trying to make a point, just grateful for the chance to create that they'd given him.

This touched me immensely. How often do we ask for something from people, and out of their good will, give up time to help us? And when we do, are we as grateful as we should be? I know that personally, when I ask for something, I am never as appreciative as I could be, and I will try harder at giving people the thanks they deserve. But as a community, are we as thankful of the staff as we could be? They are not employed and give support out of their generosity, something we should honor. I am sure I could never give the level of commitment as most of the staff do.

If that article has taught you anything, hopefully you will be more considerate of others around you that help you, and maybe you will find some way to repay them for their gratitude.

Heath Ledger will be hugely missed, and watching The Dark Night will not be the same knowing he is no longer with us.
