Hi - We were converted recently, members are reporting that they are not receiving notificaion via email of replies to topics they are subscribed to or to alert to new Private Messages.

It registered a test user early and did not receive any notification of that - Is this a known issue? or is there a setting I am missing somewhere?

There are no longer any e-mail notifications what-so-ever.

PM Stephen regarding Graphics Requests

Tracked topics are held in the Preferences section of your profile instead of an email being sent upon reply to the topic.

Thanks - Does this apply to PM's also? and what about new registrations? how will admins be aware of new registrations requiring authentication

Members can send e-mails through the forum, yes. And no, you will not receive notifications on any new registrations. However, you can edit your settings so that you will receive a pop up upon receiving a PM.

Simply go to Inbox -> PM System Settings -> Display an alert whenever you receive a new PM and select "Yes".

One would have thought that the migration would be an UPGRADE instead they make it much much harder for people to administrate their forums

Pity there's a lack of forethought and commonsense, good job your not paid by results

Personally, I would choose the better security and features over something that can always be included at a later time.

You do have to remember that ZetaBoards is a new forum software. InvisionFree, for example, did not have the features it has now, such as a domain manager, ad removal, portal, etc when it was first launched. Many more features were added, and this is the same for ZetaBoards.

In this case, I believe email notification of new topics was removed deliberately, as it was felt it was more annoying than useful to receive an email every time someone replied to a topic. If someone were to spam a topic, there'd be trouble.

Not having notification of a Private Message though and especially Admins not having notification of new members where admin authorisation is set is a regrettable and retrograde step.

Many of my members will check their email perhaps before setting off for work to see if there are any PM's and that same a lunchtime so that leaves them at a disadvantage - Even worse of course for Admins

The argument about spammed topics is also flawed as you would only receive ONE email until you visited that topic rather than a message for every reply
