Not to mention e-mail notifications when it comes to posting has been discussed here: http://support.zetaboards.com/topic/318477/

And no, you will not receive notifications on any new registrations.
this is what I wanted to ask about.

I have had 3 registrations today - it is set for Admin validation [as it's invite only]
No e-mail notification to me.. :-/

this was a feature of the InvisionFree forum I used to run - why not zeta as zeta is supposed to be better?

sorry, it would really help...I can't keep checking the Admin pages to see if anyone has joined and needs validating...any plans for it?

people only got e-mail notification of replies on topics if they had chosen to subscribe to those, so they weren't a nuisance really...

e-mail notification to Admins on new registrations is quite different, and necessary I believe.

Exactly so the argument that spammed topics would be a problem is falacious....

I also agree, we cannot be continually logging in to then ACP to see if anyone has registered.....

I also had members who reiied on email notification of PM's and did not respond to emails from the forum some asked for their membership to be terminated as the facility was no longer there

I'm surprised that so many people are... for lack of a better word... insulting the Zetaboards staff by calling the currrent system inferior. The Zetaboards system is far better. My board with over 300 members and over 40,000 posts was hacked due to a code exploit on InvisionFree. So yes, I will take increased security over email notifications, and I'm thankful for the work that the Zetaboards staff is doing. Honestly, I was getting tired of email notifications as they were filling up my Inbox. It takes very little time to check the ACP, it's not some burden that takes 10 minutes out of your day. Check your ACP instead of your email, and you won't have a problem. If you feel overwhelmed by checking your ACP regularly, just promote some people to Admin Assistants: Member Managers (under Admin CP controls). They "can process name change requests, process new account request, and edit member accounts."

I am a member at quite a few information forums, and I run a couple of my own.

What normally happens is that people ask questions, and others reply.

The "question asker" gets an email to advise that the question has been answered, and logs in to check the answer.

They often ask the same thing on other forums aswell.

Following the switch to Zeta, they are not coming back to read the answers, because they are NOT being told they have an answer, so they end up being answered by our "competitors" forums.

Since the change to zeta our board has gone very quiet.
I am now in the process of setting up an alternative forum, anyone got any ideas on how I can grab all the old posts and archive them ?

Looking at it from a forum owners point, based on income from google adverts, this change is very bad.

My board as an example, now only has regulars. And regulars rarely click on adverts. It is the new forum users who click on most adverts.
These new forum users are now being answered on other forums, and those forums are getting the potential google clicks, not Zetaboard.

My new forum will have my own google adverts, so it would be better for me in the long run, to change to a forum that can do what I need. Although it is a major pain to lose 4 years of information posts.

What surprises me me is that Zeta boards do not have an option for email notifications to be on or off. That would satisfy everyone, including those who expect some of us to change our ways, because it suits them.

The person who said "I was getting tired of email notifications as they were filling up my Inbox", could have just turned them off. My regular posters already do that, but those requiring notification of answer were able to get one.

Oh bugger, I have just realised... I now need to log into this board EVERY DAY just to see if someone replies !!!

If someone does, and I don't reply to them, it is because I have forgotten about this, as my memory is lousy, and I rely on email notifications. ;)
