I want to use .slideUp(); and/or .slideDown(); over just .show(); . But once the slide is activated, the table is displayed as block ( display:block; ) and its width shrinks so that the <td>'s don't fit the table. So, is there anyway to make slideDown(); and/or slideUp(); change the display to display:table; instead of display:block; ? Thanks. |

slideup or slidedown will show of hide something but if you plan on using both use .toggle()

I had this problem yesterday, so instead of using a table, I used a div and styled it to look like a table. Also, if you're wanting it to hide / show after the slide, use .slideToggle(). |

How exactly do I do this? Does rowspan and colspan work with div's? Because the table I'm using had multiple rows and columns. EDIT: I noticed when you expand a category on the index, the display changes to a block element, but there isn't a width error like mine. Is this because the tables are shown when the page loads, unlike my tables that are hidden when the page loads? Edited by BRYN, Aug 28 2008, 02:39 PM.

Ahh, if you have different rowspans and colspans, it's difficult, though not impossible (although IE likes to think it is). Try bug testing it, like have it show on page load and see if it works, and then you know it's a problem because it's hidden straight away, although I don't know why that would effect it. |

Well I got it all to work with just .hide(); and .show(); (the way I arranged everything, I couldn't use .toggle();), and changing around the HTML I made to make the slide effect work is too much work for something only a few will look at. Thanks though guys. May your codes be grand in IE. |
