After adding them, make sure you set all the permissions for all the groups you want to have access to them. In the ACP go to Forum Sections then Section Manager identify the forum then scroll down and put all ticks in the appropriate sections - You as Admin will not see the forum you have created unless you have the ticks in the admin section of that menu When you create a forum there are no permissions set by default
