I have checked mine, boxes to tick but only the facility to move to archive no drop down box for deleting. thanks folks.

Due to the Conversation style of Private Messages, deleting is NOT an option that is available - If you were to delete a message which is part of a coversation at your end but it is not deleted at the other the conversation would be messed up. Instead of deleting, messages are archived
